YOUR AFTERCARE GUIDE
Everything you need to keep your hair looking and feeling its best — for months to come.
Once a week is all it needs.
Washing too frequently is one of the quickest ways to shorten your closure's lifespan — so resist the urge. Once a week is plenty.
Always wash in the shower rather than over the bath. This keeps the parting intact and prevents matting. Shampoo gently using circular motions — no scrubbing.
Conditioner goes on mid-lengths and ends only. Never on the root, as it loosens the knots. Finish with a leave-in conditioner and oil on the lengths as needed.
Treat it like the investment it is.
Always use heat protection before drying, curling, or straightening. Brush gently using an eco hair brush, holding the hair as you work from the ends upward. Never brush from the root down.
Chlorine, saltwater, and prolonged direct sunlight are the main daily enemies. Cover up when swimming and protect in hot climates.
Style it. Just protect it first.
Your SHADE closure can be curled, straightened, and blow dried. It's designed to be styled.
The one ruleHeat protection, every single time. No exceptions. Apply before any heat tool touches the hair — this is the single most important thing you can do to extend the life of your closure.Shedding is almost always avoidable.
Hair and tape do not part ways kindly. If tape is involved in your system, always protect the closure first. Handle the base with care — it is more delicate than it looks.
The details that make the difference.
How long will it last?
With the right care routine, your closure can last up to 9 months. Most people find that around 6 months is when they start to notice wear — but this varies depending on how well the hair is cared for.
The better the routine, the longer the investment lasts. Think of this guide as protecting something that was made specifically for you.
